Written and sung by Gary Anderson- Class of '62
September 2006 Gary wrote and performed the following song as a tribute to those of us who graduated in the early sixties.
The years have fled so swiftly, the seasons passing by.
It seems we barely said hello, and them we said good-bye.
Friends that were so close to us, who shared our hopes and fears,
Have slipped away and vanished with the passing of the years.
Little league and Neverland are only memories;
School days won't return again.
Autumn colors on the campus, picnics in the park,
Pef fests and the dances, Lake Harriet after dark,
The explosions at Homecoming, Porky's and the food,
The Tinsel Twirl, Fire and Ice, the exciting festive mood,
Commencement and the proms are only memories;
A glimpse of days that used to be.
We whispered small soft promises that would never come to be,
Of meetings in the future, a luncheon or a tea.
Somewhere along our journeys, if we should chance to meet.
We'll realize that growing up was oh so bittersweet.
The silver nights and golden days are only memories.
The magic won't return again.
The years have fled so swiftly, the seasons passing by.
It seems we barely said hello and now we say goodbye.
Somewhere along our journey, if we should chance to meet,
We'll realize that growing up was Oh So Bittersweet.
