Chair of Business Department; taught Beginning Typing, Shorthand, Office Procedures
Started Y-Teens program
Retirement: She and Charlie have traveled extensively around the world (15 trips outside the U.S.) and visited 16 Elder Hostels.
JIM CARLSON
1957-1988
World History, World Affairs; last 12 years: Psychology
Golf coach and Chair of Homecoming Dance Committee
Retirement: Jim has worked at a local hardware store for 18 years, 3 days a week.

JAN BOUCHARD CARLSON
1959-1962

English 10 - three years; returned to sub at RHS for 16 years
Served on the Homecoming Dance Committee
Retirement: Jan and Jim have chaired the Fellowship Hall commission at their church for many years.

World History and U.S. History before moving to Physical Education and Health

STAN DUFREESE
1957-1986

Math Department - taught just about every subject from Beginning Math to Pre-Calc
Director of RHS Auditorium 1961-1986; worked closely with Jim Marcelle on RHS Spring Musicals set construction
Retirement: Stan enjoys woodworking projects for friends and family

GENE FARRELL
1954-1963
American History
First Varsity Basketball Coach (1954-1963) Took 1960 BB team to the MN State Basketball Tournament
Post RHS: 1963-1982 - Gogebic Community College, Ironwood, MI: Athletic Director and Student Services Coordinator; Coached basketball & tennis.
MABEL FRANKENSTEIN
1954-1984
English 10 and English 12; Started Honors English Program; Taught Honors English 12
English Chair; Guidance Counselor and Chair 1962-1984; Senior Class Advisor
Retirement: Chair, RHS Scholarship Selection Committee, 20+ years
MARILYN HANSON
1957-1963
Home Economics and Advanced Foods. According to her, "Taught the most wonderful kids in the world."
Post RHS: Worked full-time in the Burnsville schools until 1989
Retirement: She and Hubert have been on 10 cruises around the world.
HUBERT HANSON
1958-1986
Hired to teach math and science; After several years, concentrated on Geometry and Algebra
Junior Class Advisor and Prom Advisor
Retirement: Active in church and the Sons of Norway
WALLY HOUTS
1954-1984
Art Department, taught Painting, Water Colors, Print Making, Commercial Art, Sculpture, and Ceramics
With Don Johnson, created the Spartan head as the symbol of RHS
Retirement: For 44 years, Wally has worked (and continues to work) in real estate
JANET HOWELLS
1957-1963
Physical Education and Health; Cheerleader coach and Chaired the Pep Club;
Returned to sub in Richfield for 20 years (1966-1986)
Retirement: Subbing in Richfield
DON JOHNSON
1954-1984
Industrial Arts, Wood, Architectural Drafting, Small Engines
With Wally Houts, designed the Spartan head as the symbol of RHS
Retirement: Since 9-11, Wally helped start a thrift/mission store in Burnsville which sells donated furniture and clothing with all proceeds going to missions.
MILES LUNDAHL
1954-1985
Along with Charles Ziemer, Richfield's very own "Music Man." He was our Band Department, leading over 250 students in the 1970's. Selected by "Richfield is 50" committee to represent all staff as a speaker in the program.
Retirement: Miles and his wife have been volunteers in the Phoenix area social services, supporting mission homes with clothing and food

German, also taught some Spanish and Russian
One of the "Fathers of Minnesota High School Soccer" for men and womens' programs
Downhill, Jumping, and Cross Country Ski Coach
Retirement:With his wife Katherine, Rudi volunteers for Books for Africa and Habitat for Humanity.

First Varsity Baseball Coach (1954-1965); eight Lake Conference Championships and two State Championships ('62 & '65)
First Varsity Hockey Coach (1954-1965); four Lake Conference Championships & one State Championship ('65)
Retirement: Gene is a long-time volunteer at his church (chairs the Building & Grounds commission); During 15+ winters, he and Arla have wintered at their Venice FL home.
DELORES OSTEGAARD ZIEMER 1954-1981 English 11 and later English 12 & Honors English 12
Director, Junior and Senior Class Plays (1954-1967)
Retirement: A life-long learner, Delores has continued her interest in writing through classes at numerous colleges. Her special focus is family biography and history.
BEN PEDERSEN

American History; Drivers Ed: Sophomore Class Advisor
Retirement: Ben and Adeline have traveled. Took a special trip to Scandinavian countries in 1990
He continues to be a student of history.
