IT'S BEEN FORTY-FIVE YEARS

Oh Richfield Class of Sixty-one
We meet again, ain't it fun?
Teens no more, that's easy to see
It's been forty-five years, now how can that be?
We may be sporting eyeglasses and hearing aids in each ear,
But all have found something that we now hold so dear.
Surgeries, prescriptions, and hospital stays too,
Somehow we've managed to pull ourselves through.
We were young and eager our fortunes to find;
Parents often wondered were we out of our mind?
Our raging hormones were high, our incomes were low;
Now our youth has vanished; and our hormones are slow.
We've aches and some pains, perhaps more than you know
Surviving arthritis--we're still on the go.
The cataracts are gone, but good lenses in their place
We now see much more clearly when we look face to face .
Some have seen their sweet babies arrive, grow, and leave;
Many have experienced pain and many have grieved.
Our hair's turned to gray; some have little hair left;
Our bodies have aged, and now we've more heft.
We've seen wars come and go; experienced tragedy too.
It's a big world out there and there's still much to do.
Our futures are bright; we won't let them dim;
We've mountains to climb, and rivers to swim.
Hula hoops, saddle shoes, rolled blue jeans, suede shoes
Jitter bug, Elvis--Walter Cronkite on the news.
We've watched fads come and we've watched fads go.
Our minds are still quick though our bodies are slow
Our age may be showing, but inside we're still the same.
We have strong spirits yet; we remain in the game.
Oh the years have rolled by but our memory's still there
Of our great times together and the fun that we shared.
Our old cars were great for drive-in movie show;
Some necked in the back seat, so no one would know.
We piled in the cars to find fun things to do
Gas was much cheaper then -six gallons easily for a buck sixty-two.

Time takes its toll on our bodies, 'tis true,
But we're still alive and kicking and will be 'til we're thru.
So here's to each other. May our days always be blessed
With joy, peace, and happiness, as we enjoy the fun we have left.

We miss the big bands, soc hops and ice skating too;
We've had to move on to try things brand new.
Computers iPods and cell phones with text,
Cable movies, E-mail, and pod casts; what will be next?
